What is Superhuman's concept?

Superhuman was founded as a physiotherapy clinic in the Sydney CBD. It became apparent that there was a need for an extended service, so we branched out to include the Physio Backed Personal Training concept we provide today. We believe it is of utmost importance that our clients have access to the best knowledge and personnel in the industry to ensure they receive the best possible care.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy at its most basic level addresses problems associated with human movement. Most of our physiotherapy clients come to see us for either acute injuries (as a result of a recent, specific event) or longstanding musculoskeletal problems (for which there was no particular incident). If you are unsure of whether we can assist you, take a look at our educational website content to get a better idea of the types of complaints we address.

Do I need a referral to partake in Physio Backed Personal Training?

A referral is not required, but as part of the process, we will ask you to visit either your regular GP or a GP we know and trust, to ensure you are fit to undertake the program. Your GP's findings are also important when it comes to measuring the effectiveness of the program on your long-term health.

Do I need a referral for physiotherapy treatment?

No. Although many of our clients are referred to us through GPs and specialists, a medical referral is not necessary for you to see a physiotherapist in Australia.

What times are available?

The physiotherapist is usually the first practitioner you will see at Superhuman and availability is as follows:
Sydney CBD: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (morning only).
Double Bay: Tuesday and Friday (afternoon only).

Other practitioners involved in the Physio Backed Personal Training memberships - personal trainers, dieticians and GPs - availabilities vary and we can discuss suitable times for you on a case by case basis.

How do I book an appointment?

To book an appointment in our Sydney CBD rooms, please call (02) 8222 5995 to speak with our receptionist.

Where do I find Superhuman?

Superhuman's Sydney CBD Clinic operates from within the Benchmark Medical Clinic at Level 2, No 2 Martin Place, Sydney. The building is opposite the old GPO, with the entrance located between the storefronts of Giorgio Armani and Paspaley Pearls.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

When you arrive at the clinic, you will be asked to fill in some paperwork asking for your basic contact details. Once you enter the private consulting office, your physio will ask you some questions about your problem and any other history that may be relevant, such as any longstanding medical history or previous injuries. Depending on your case, the physio may then perform some tests to determine the source of your problem and explain to you the steps required for recovery.

If you are injured, you can always expect to learn about your problem including why it has happened and where your pain is coming from. Treatment may include exercise prescription or manual therapy (such as joint mobilisation or massage) and will always involve education. Many patients will be prescribed a home exercise program to ensure they make the most effective recovery possible. At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to book any further appointments that may be necessary.

What should I bring?

If you have been referred by your doctor, please bring the referral with you. If you have made a workers' compensation claim, we also require you to bring a copy of the letter received from your insurance company which states your claim number and their acceptance of liability.

As we often require exposure of the affected area for assessment and treatment, we ask that you wear suitable clothing. This might involve a pair of shorts if you have a knee or ankle injury; or a singlet top for a woman's neck or shoulder injury. If in doubt, bring some clothes that you might usually exercise in.

How much does it cost for a physiotherapy consultation?

$142.50 for an Initial Consultation (45mins)
$95.00 for a Follow Up Consultation (30mins)

We prefer payment via EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard and American Express (rather than cash). HICAPS services are available at the Double Bay facility only. If you're visiting the Sydney CBD Clinic you can claim your private health fund rebate by presenting your receipts directly to your health fund.

If you have made a workers' compensation claim, we require you to bring your GP's referral and a copy of the letter received from your insurance company which states your claim number and their acceptance of liability.

What if I need to cancel?

It's fine if you need to reschedule. To ensure our available appointment times are utilised, we ask you to give us 24 hours' notice, otherwise a cancellation fee may apply.
